Omnivert Personality

Omnivert Personality Type:
The 'Transparent One'

Omnivert definition: both an extrovert and an introvert. Likes to spend their time by being with groups of people in low intensity environments and by spending time on their own. Similar to Ambiversion (see below).

Ambivert & Omnivert differences:

Ambivert: both an extrovert and an introvert. Likes to spend their time by being with groups of people in highly stimulating environments and by spending time on their own.
"Ambi" is both; meaning it has a mix of personality traits, colours you put it with, etc. A good name for this personality type is Chameleon due to it's ability to adapt its personality type according to the social situation.

Omnivert: both an extrovert and an introvert. Likes to spend their time by being with groups of people in low intensity environments and by spending time on their own. "Omni" is everywhere; meaning it has a blend of all personality traits and doesn't really have a specific colour, it's transparent. This personality type is known as Universal as it merges with all personality types. However, they can become withdrawn if presented with a situation they don't want and in social situations have to go within and acquire traits to fit in with their social environment.

A look at our unique personality traits:

As you're all probably aware (or maybe not) everybody has different personality traits. Based on two books I have read; Personality Plus by Florence Littauer and The Four Colour Personalities for MLM by Big Al, I have combined the learning styles of the two authors into this simple guide to describe the different types of people and their traits. Which one are you?

  • Sanguine: The Entertainer; the talker, the optimist, the life of the party, loves people, seems exciting, makes friends easily.
  • Melancholy: The Examiner; the thinker, the pessimist, analytical, deep and thoughtful, serious and purposeful, perfectionist, precise, likes charts, graphs and figures, makes friends cautiously.
  • Choleric: The Chief; the doer, the optimist, born leader, compulsive need for change, must correct wrongs, strong willed and decisive, can run anything, has little need for friends but will work for group activities, will lead and organise, is usually right.
  • Phlegmatic: The Healer; the watcher, the pessimist, low key personality, easygoing and relaxed, calm, cool and collected, patient, well balanced, consistent life, quiet but witty, sympathetic and kind, keeps emotions hidden, good listener, has many friends.
  • Chameleon: The Flexible One; intuitive, the feeler and the thinker, loves being with friends in highly stimulating environments and spending time alone, adapts their personality to suit the social environment, can relate to anyone, doesn't start conversations with strangers, can be a mystery to friends, experiences changes in energy levels and mood.
  • Universal: The Freedom Loving One; intuitive, the feeler and the thinker, loves being with friends in low intensity environments and spending time alone, goes within to acquire traits to suit the social environment, can relate to anyone, usually doesn't start conversations with strangers, can be a mystery to friends, experiences changes in energy levels and mood.

Breakdown of different personality types:

Based on some research I did on Myers Briggs 16 Personality Types here is a rough estimate of how many people fall under all the 6 different personality types. Omniverts make up about 20% of the population:

For anyone who is familiar with Myers Briggs 16 Personality Types based on 8 extroverted personality types and 8 introverted personality types and Intuition, Sensing, Thinking, Feeling, Judging and Perceiving functions here is what you end up with when you combine all these senses together into one Ambivert and one Omnivert personality type:
